Dr. Susan Hanson
Dr. Susan Hanson, distinguished lecturer in health and medicine, has been named the recipient of this year's Norman and Louise Allhiser Award for Teaching Excellence. This award was established in 1986 through a fund established by Norman and Louise Allhiser to recognize exceptional instruction by a member of the Carroll University faculty.
Her nomination says: “As the coordinator and a lead instructor for Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Dr. Hanson teaches a large percentage of Carroll undergraduates, who are taking these courses as requirements for their health science majors. Many students find these courses exceptionally challenging…While this might seem to be a recipe for poor course evaluations, Dr. Hanson’s evaluations are consistently among the best at the university.”
Dr. Hanson excels not only in the classroom but as the coordinator of the 100-level Anatomy and Physiology courses. In that role, she ensures students receive a consistent, high-quality educational experience.
Dr. Monika Baldridge, chair of the Department of Health and Medicine, said: "Sue's passion for teaching is unparalleled. Her enthusiasm in the classroom engages and motivates students in numerous majors. It is great to have her at the forefront of the ANP educational series—she sets the stage for the rest of the curriculum. Sue is an inspiration to the students as well as her colleagues.
